Say Hello to Ellykin Dwobfoddle

Ellykin Dwobfoddle - Gnome2
Originally uploaded by firesong_42

Well, I finished it, finally. His name is Ellykin Dwobfoddle.

This is the gnome from designer Alan Dart that I started months ago. I had him knitted for a while, but hadn't sewn him up. I made sure I had him done by Christmas though. Isn't he cute? His nose is a little pink so we call him the alcoholic gnome.

Do you know this Machine?

We are putting new flooring in the living room and kitchen and we were moving it and I opened it up and discovered that it still works!

I got this from my mom when she passed away. It was my Grandmother's machine. I have had this for a couple of years but it just sat in the corner. I just don't know what kind of machine it is. I know it needs cleaning and a little oil, but it would be nice to know what it is.

I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas this year, but if this works I don't need all the bells and whistles of the newer machines. All I want is a basic machine.

Here are some more pictures:

Yeah, I know... I have been away for a while. We started a new painting business and had a big job for a local celebrity and that took all of my time. I hope to be around for a while now that things have settled a little. I say "a little" because we are now upgrading the flooring in our house and doing it ourselves. Its taking forever, but I can't wait until its done. Pictures to come.

News Flash!

Ok, I know that I have been very delinquent in my blogging duties. But I have to say that I never thought of this as duties, just fun. We have been very busy here at Chez Pegasus. We have started a new business and that entails quite a bit of time and energy.

Anyway, you guys don't want to hear about that. Where's the knitting?

I have had a little time to add stuff to Ravelry.com. I am Firesong (if anyone wants to look). OMG, I love Ravelry. It is FABULOUS! You. Must. Join! All the patterns, pictures, blogs, help.... I just love looking at other knitter's/crocheter's work. I am quite the newbie knitter and love to see what other crafter's create. I spend just way too much time just looking.

I have finished the Argosy scarf, Monkey socks, and two more pairs of April May Wristwarmers (no pictures yet...too busy...soon, I promise).

I have started my Christmas knitting. I may have overloaded myself, but I'm gonna try to get it all done. The ADD Knitter has struck again...or as some people call it - startitis.

WHEW!

Boy, this is intense. I love RAVELRY. I have been downloading, uploading, forums, groups, new blogs, new people and on and on and on. I hope to have some new pictures for the blog in the next few days. Things have been a little busy around these here parts. I swear...no, really, I mean it.

Here's a little bit of love to pass the time.

Ain't he cute?

See ya soon!

I am overwhelmed.

I hope I can live up to the responsiblity.

Rugrat's Birthday

RUGRAT'S BIRTHDAY!!!!! 10 Years Old!!!!!!!!

We had the Rugrat's birthday this weekend. 10 years old. I can't believe it. I was talking just the other day about my labor with the rugrat like it happened yesterday. But, HELLO?, he is 10 years old. Labor was a long time ago. He is 10 years old. OMG, He is 10. How did that happen?

What a boy!

It's My Birthday!

Well, here is another one come and about gone. Haven't really done anything today, but work and eat cake. I won't bore you with the details of my birthday, just know that I am now really middle aged. But its better than the alternative, right?

Birthdays are not my forte. This Saturday is the Rugrat's 10th birthday and I still haven't started getting his party together. I always wait until the last minute. We have ready made parties anyway, lots of family who will show up at the drop of a hat. I think the pool and cake will be the order of the day.

I Think I Can, I Think I Can!

I have started my first pair of socks...and they are MONKEY. I am using Knitpicks Sock Memories yarn (color discontinued) and have had it in stash for about 2 years. I love the green (and the soft shades of pink that you can't see in the pictures) in this colorway.

These colors look great in the Monkey pattern and also in the stripes of the heel and foot. I love it. Great bus knitting.

I just hope I don't fall into the "second sock syndrome". I am almost finished with the first sock and can't wait to start the second one...But I know how I am..."ADD Knitter" thats what they call me. I want these for a gift, but I only have a week left for the "Birthday girl", so I have to hurry.

As the little engine says..."I think I can, I think I can".

The Wheels on the Bus Go 'Round and 'Round

I started riding the bus today. Its an Express bus to downtown and drops me off right at the Capitol. Unfortunately, there was a terrible accident on the interstate this morning and we got a late start, but I was still on time for work. I got caught in the rain waiting for the bus for the ride home and traffic was a bear. But I didn't have to drive...there was no cursing or high blood pressure going on, just knitting.

Its great...free knitting time. I worked on some new April May wristwarmers and almost got one finished on the ride to and from work. I am really going to enjoy this.

New Obsession

My new obsession is the Argosy scarf that I started earlier this month. I put it down for a little while but in the last few days I have been working on it diligently. I have also started the Argosy dishcloth.

I am a slow knitter and I have been called an A.D.D. knitter as I start something, get a little bored, then start something else, then go back to working on the first thing. FO's are few sometimes.

I did finish a pair of April May Lace armwarmers. I love them, I want them, but I am going to use them as a gift. They were easy and fast so I will make me some more with a little brighter color of yarn.

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

Atlanta was awash in smoke this morning. Southerly winds brought smoke into the metropolitan area today.

Its the Bugaboo! Thats what they are calling it on the radio. The Okefenokee Swamp is on fire. Many acres on fire -- moving into Florida.

Please, let's pray for the Firefighters that are working this fire. They are our everyday Heroes!

Hopefully rain and calm winds will help them.

Roses are Pink and Apples are Green

My beautiful roses. These are two roses from the bush by the front door. I do so love the pinks.

Two great tastes that taste great together.

Regarding Previous Post

Thanks to my husband and son my daemon has changed. They don't think that I am shy. Puh-leeze, not with them. But anyway, in the last hour I have been a rabbit, tiger, and a fox. I guess I shouldn't be too upset, the fundamental qualities are the same and they agreed with them. And they are the most important ones, right?

The Golden Compass

While reading the KnittyBlog I found out that "The Golden Compass" by Phillip Pullman is being made into a movie. This is one of my favorite books.

On the website you can find your Daemon. In the world of the "The Golden Compass" a daemon is a part of your soul that resides outside your body. It takes the form of an animal that has the qualities that you possess. It can change around when you are young but by the time you are grown it is set. It never travels far from you and if you lose it you are considered soulless. I have found mine and I think it pretty much tells the story.

His name is Skaene. I think it would be pronounced like skein (a ball of yarn, sound familiar?) AND its a rabbit, where some of the finest angora yarn comes from (I know its not an angora rabbit, but its close). I just think its kind of eerie.

My friends can go and look at it and make sure the answers I gave were acurate to form the daemon. If they disagree they can make comments and the daemon could change, or morph, into something else.

The Walk of the Dog

There hasn't been much knitting lately, with work and home stuff to do. So today I will show you the walk of the dog.

This is the sidewalk that we walk. Its really nice and not much traffic.

Toby doing his business.

This is a nice spot that the road crosses over the creek.
The walk home with my bright pink shoes that my husband hates. Back home with my pretty roses.

New Baby Girl

Toby has a some cute kids, huh? Cindy picked up her new baby today. Isn't she sweet. She actually looks a lot like Toby. I am so glad that Cindy has a little bit of Toby. If this dog is just a third of what Toby is she will one of the best dogs in the world. Toby is my baby, now I hope that this beautiful little girl will be theirs. We "pimped" Toby out a little bit ago with Christie's MIL's chihuahua. She had 6 puppies and we were to get the pick of the litter. We didn't need another dog and Cindy wanted a dog for Chaz, so we let them have our pick. They ended up getting the runt of the litter and she is so pretty.

* Ignore the bags of yarn on the stairs in the background.

Christmas in April

I am almost done with the pieces of the Christmas Gnome. I am using the Alan Dart Design from the 2005 Simply Knitting Christmas magazine insert. This is my first gnome. I can't wait until he is finished. Its just a little difficult to work on it when I have to work so late. Fortunately, the pieces are small (as I am making the small version first) and I can get them done pretty fast. Here are the pieces I have done so far. I have one arm, the beard, and hat to finish.

I have become enamored with knitting dolls. I started with a rabbit for my son for Easter and it has gone from there. This is the first doll I made and I used about 3 different patterns to make it, and I made the ear pattern myself. He loves it but he didn't want a face for it (my embroidery skills are quite lacking). He named it "Meep" (don't ask, I don't know where that came from).

Isn't he cute? I think he needs a sweater or scarf, don't you?

Great Minds

It seems that tie dyeing was the order of the day. Check out Ann's April 7th post on Mason Dixon Knitting. We had the same conclusion to our egg dyeing adventure.

Colors Of My World

Cool Colors, Huh? Easter is here and we are coloring eggs. After the eggs were colored we did a little tye dye with the paper towels and hung them on the front door.

There was a little egg dyeing also.

Fun was had by all. Me especially!

The Beginning

I have started this blog to document my knitting and other endeavors. I hope to be able to create a place for my creative side to show. My writing skills are sub par at best, but I hope to be able to express myself at the best of my ability. If you happen to chance upon this site, I hope you enjoy my entries and please be kind.
I will leave you today with a picture of my rugrat and his dog. I love this picture!
